Background

In order to facilitate the development of the Tseung Kwan O residential and industrial area above the reclaimed land of the Junk Bay, the Government decided to build a tunnel to shorten the road traffic route linking to Kwun Tong.

Description

KML was awarded the installation subcontract to offer the installation design, supply of equipment mounting structures, installation, testing and commissioning of TCSS designed and supplied by Tractebel.

Task

The subcontract covered all the local operation of the TCSS construction project monitored by the Tractebel Site Manager with exception to the final commissioning of the TCSS.

At initial stage, KML’s design engineers has to design the installation layout including all the detailed mounting location, mounting brackets, concrete foundations, cable routes and installation methods.

The system includes all traffic signs & signals, barriers, vehicle detection inductive loops, CCTV, radio and road side telephones all monitored by the control centre.

KML’s fabrication workshop had manufactured all custom-built brackets for erection equipment for mounting on wall & ceiling, freestanding and fixing onto gantry.

KML’s installation team perform all the erection of signs and signals at the approaches and gantries, tunnel signals and niches, control centre and all interconnecting cable routes and cables, together with subsequent installation inspection and testing of all cabling network and power distribution system to enable the commissioning of the system.
